Last Bastion?
Dec 03, 2009
On my way back to Christ's College, Cambridge earlier this month to talk to undergraduates about "careers in the media" it occurred to me that during three years there, myself, I don't recall even once thinking about what I might do on graduation. Surprised to say, the current generation are ahead of the curve on this front, (though as things stand they'll need to be). As you would expect of a 500-year-old institution, Christ's remains virtually unchanged from my days in the mid Eighties. That is, apart from places to dispose of cigarette butts. I took this implicit approval of smoking as an invitation to have a cigar. Nice to know you still can in some relatively public places.
