Faith in Christ's
Jul 06, 2009
I went to Sandown Park on Saturday, along with an old college friend. There, by chance, we met a Brazilian racehorse owner and breeder. It transpired that he was also a Christ's College, Cambridge old boy, going back to the sixties. Even more remarkable, he was an economist who had been taught by some of the same tutors as me. As he asked our shared hosts in the Royal Box: "What are the odds on that?" We ended up spending practically the whole day together before my friend and I returned to London and our senior statesman made his way to Heathrow for a return flight to Rio. Small world but no less good as a consequence.
