My book, You Bet - The Betfair Story: How two men changed the world of gambling took, door-to-door, two years from proposal to publication. If you consider that an article I wrote in Esquire back in 2004 that appeared the following year was the inspiration then that extends the gestation to five years. Still, this is only half the age on the Avignonesi vin santo '99 that I had the privilege to taste last week seconds after leaving casks where the wine had been held for a decade. Not that my book would necessarily be better for taking more time. But wine can offer a compelling perspective.
